The slip on this piece is very subtly variegated and the glaze has crazed, providing texture as unique as a fingerprint. You can see the tiny cracks as pictured. I consider these markings and imperfections as in accordance with the design and visual harmony of the piece.
This one of a kind mug is thrown on the wheel from white stoneware, then dipped in black slip and hand carved into. I distress the slip, let it run, and embrace the individuality of each piece. Painted gold luster adorns the piece, highlighting the details of the image and the irregularities of the slip.
Please note, luster is not microwave safe, it is gold, and therefore metal. Be safe when using your pieces. Hand wash or wash occasionally in the top rack of the dishwasher to preserve the luster.
