This piece is a second because the glaze has slightly crawled, which does not affect the functionality of the piece. It’s on the smaller side, 4.5” in height, width and depth. The glaze has crazed, as pictured. A standard 4” flower pot fits beautifully in this piece.

I see moths as a manifestation of the feminine, yin or receptive energy. They are connected to the Shadow and, when seen in dreams, are powerful messengers from our psychic subconscious.

The Black Moth Planter is thrown on the wheel from white stoneware, then dipped in black slip which gives a layered, atmospheric quality to its color. I carve the image by hand, and each planter is a little different.
