This jar is thrown on the wheel in two parts, hand painted and carved, and adorned with gold luster.
The turtles are arranged on the jar’s surface like an ink painting, and each turtle has gold luster painted on its shell and the characteristic red cheeks of the red eared slider. They are surrounded by water lettuce and red ludwigia, two plants that exist in their natural habitat and provide sustenance.
As we persist through the winter we can take a lesson from the turtle to slow down and live deliberately, building up our reserves and taking stock of our surroundings - what are we using to protect ourselves in this vulnerable time, and how will we protect each other?
Food safe jar for salt, sugar, tea or honey. Hand wash only.
