Wild Mallard Bowl *Second*
This bowl is seconded because there are some superficial cracks on the bottom of the bowl, which do not extend through the piece and do not affect its functionality.
Two female mallards float along on the surface of a lake, as their sister takes flight into the clouds.
This one of a kind bowl is thrown on the wheel from white stoneware, then dipped in black slip and hand carved into. I distress the slip, let it run, and embrace the individuality of each piece. Painted gold luster adorns the piece, highlighting the details of the image and the irregularities of the slip.
This bowl is about 7” wide at the top, and fits five plums perfectly.
The slip on this piece is very subtly variegated, providing texture as unique as a fingerprint. I consider these markings and imperfections as in accordance with the design and visual harmony of the piece.
Please note, luster is not microwave safe. Be safe when using your pieces. Hand washing is recommended.
